OXFORD CONCERTS IN HISTORIC BUILDINGS

We are delighted to announce five evening concerts for August 2022, all in the University Church of St Mary the Virgin at 7pm.  Click on page links at the top for full details.

Saturday August 6th
Classical Gems. Oxford Proms Orchestra, with Jocelyn Freeman in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 2, Plus Symphony No 44 (farewell) by Haydn, Gluck’s “Dance of the Blessed Spirits”  and a Vivaldi Concerto for 2 Violins with two talented young Oxford violinists; our conductor is Catherine Underwood.

The concert was nearly sold out. Many thanks to performers and soloists for a great concert.

Wednesday August 10th
Songs for Ukraine. A concert in aid of Ukranian Refugees with SongEasel young artists.

Saturday August 13th
Oxford Proms Orchestra is joined by Mami Shikimori for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 17. The programme includes Mozart’s Symphony No 29 in A major, Albinoni’s most celebrated Oboe Concerto in D minor and Beethoven’s Romance No 2 in F major for Violin & Orchestra, Conductor Catherine Underwood.

Wednesday August 17th
Jocelyn Freeman gives a piano recital of some of her favourite works.

Wednesday August 24th
Mami Shikimori – Piano Classics.

The encore “Feux d’artifice” – Fireworks, by Debussy, played by Mami Shikimori at the concert on 13th August can be viewed on Facebook here.

Many thanks to our artists and audiences for coming to Oxford Proms concerts this year. We were able to donate £1000 to the UNICEF appeal for children in Ukraine after the “Songs for Ukraine” concert on 13th August.
